Halloween Flashback

Oh my goodness!! Three years ago this is what my babies looked like at Halloween! Anna was only 6 months old, and the girls were almost 2! I can hardly believe this. It is amazing how much they've grown. It makes me feel a bit nostalgic for how little they were. {{sheds tiny tear}}

Campbell Family Reunion

In August we traveled to New Hampshire for the memorial service of Flora Campbell, my husband's grandmother. "Little Grammy" had passed away earlier in the year at the age of 102! Here are almost all of her descendants gathered in a gorgeous house we rented for the week. I think we're only missing 1 wife here and 1 grandchild. Pretty neat to be able to get together and celebrate her life and enjoy some quality catching up time. My kids are ready to go back anytime, they are so in love with their cousins and aunts and uncles!

Fresh Start

In July, I finally got a new camera and took a few shots upstairs with the girls to test it out. We had been swimming earlier in the day and the towels are drying on my bannister, my favorite laundry drying spot. These girls are all so silly and cute. How fun to have sisters to pal around with all day long! I love how each of their personalities comes out when we take pics like this.

A Bit of Spring

The thing about having babies in Las Vegas is, that they think that any sunny day is Summer. And why not? As summer seems to last from April to October every year. They also declare that they are "freezing" any time the wind blows and makes the temperature dip below 60 degrees. So, on this particular day, not very long ago, the temperature was up into the mid-70's, so of course we had to break out the bathing suits, small kiddie pool, and live up the "summer" weather of spring in our neck of the woods!

LMAO

Why Having a Toddler is Like Being at a Frat Party
10. There are half-full, brightly-colored plastic cups on the floor in every room. Three are in the bathtub.
9. There’s always that one girl, bawling her eyes out in a corner.
8. It’s best not to assume that the person closest to you has any control over their digestive function.
7. You sneak off to the bathroom knowing that as soon as you sit down, someone’s going to start banging on the door.
6. Probably 80% of the stains on the furniture contain DNA.
5. You’ve got someone in your face at 3 a.m. looking for a drink.
4. There’s definitely going to be a fight.
3. You’re not sure whether anything you’re doing is right, you just hope it won’t get you arrested.
2. There are crumpled-up underpants everywhere.
1. You wake up wondering exactly how and when the person in bed with you got there.

"Es-cah-pay"

Today, I am driving with my SIL to California for a 24 hour escape. My baby sister is having her first baby and we're going to the baby shower! I am so excited. The kids let me sleep last night, so I think I can make it through the day and then the drive tonight without too much help from Dr. Pepper. I can still remember when Lindsey was born. I wanted a baby sister soooo bad. No more boys, please! And I came home from school and learned that I had a sister and me and my little friends ran up the street yelling "Its a girl!" and hooting and waving at the cars on the corner! I was so excited. And then she came home, and it was like having a real live doll to play with. Awesome! Anyway, hooray for sisters, and SIL's and leaving the kiddos for 24 hours to play! YAY!

and this is what i looked like

I ran into another mormon mom at JoAnn's today and I remembered: This is why I have so few friends. Other women make me feel like a loser. She had 3 kids with her-- 4 year old twins and a 2 year old. All 2 years and 3 months apart, apparently. Perfectly coiffed, hairbows in place, outfits clean, and she was like 7ish months pregnant,, dressed cute with hair done and requisite overpriced stroller and just chilling while her kids stood next to her in line behind us. I, on the other hand, was looking like the picture above. Hair leftover from yesterday, skinny jeans, plaid shirt, gap vest and keen slip ons. An outfit that I threw on as the girls screamed downstairs after I spent the better part of the morning in my pj's attempting to put the laundry away before I had to start washing it all over again: wrinkly, not a shred of makeup and a slightly runny nose. The bottom of my beat up stroller is filled with goldfish, raisins and old baby wipes. My children, who had just finished rolling around on the floor instead of dancing at dance class were wearing their dancing outfits, complete with asphalt stains and a hole in the knee. They had wild flyaways coming off their buns, and poor Annie, who wouldn't let me get near her with a brush this morning, was screaming her head off in the stroller, "i want to walk! I WANT TO WALK!" They ran in and out of all the empty registers spreading my purchases around for good measure.

I'd like to say that I got in my car, counted my blessings and went on my merry way, but instead, I got in my car, looked around with an air of disapproval at myself, the state of my french-fry strewn car, and the condition of my children and felt like I never quite can get it right. Oh well! What can you do! Maybe I made the nice lady feel good about herself!

Dancing on tables half naked. Its a vegas thing.

Evey has some sweet moves. She and Anna insist upon listening to Lady Gaga for all their best moves. (Before this, they were dancing to Usher. Wow. They have interesting taste thanks to Pandora Radio.) Notice the crazy hair that the ponytails have been pulled out of, and the diaper sagging to the knees. Very chic. She is facing the window and watching her own reflection while she dances. And yes, I know dancing on the table is dangerous. My kids like to live on the edge. They constantly mock my attempts to keep them fed, clothed and alive. But they can dance.
